Anam

Anam (“Spirit” in Irish) is my final project outcome as part of Design West 2022, held in ATU Connemara (Letterfrack, Galway). My project was made in response to the board game brief, which asked students to re-imagine the Celtic-Irish board game of Brandubh.

My version of the game plays with the scale and height of the game board to reflect the Connemara landscape around Letterfrack, and sets English and Irish letterforms against each other to suggest historic attempts at colonising and subjugating the Irish language.

I also designed a journal to capture the incredible two weeks of learning and experimenting that I enjoyed during my time at Design West.
